Encounters at a Glance: Into the Wild - Explorer’s Journal
The Explorer’s Journal expands the Encounters at a Glance: Into the Wild series with even more material for travel, rests, and encounters away from the major adventures.
Included are a total of 560 short travel events that can be added to an ongoing campaign without preparation. Of these, 320 events are divided among the four biomes of forest, mountains, ocean, and swamp. Another 240 events deal with wet, cold, and hot weather.
The group simply rolls on the appropriate tables and lets itself be surprised by the result. This creates small roleplaying scenes, unexpected problems, or special moments along the way, without the game master having to prepare a complete adventure for it.
Stories Around the Campfire
The journal also contains various campfire stories featuring unusual NPCs whom the group can encounter during a rest.
Traveling merchants, mysterious wanderers, and other figures ensure that both short and long rests offer more than just restoring resources. The encounters are well suited for spontaneous conversations, small side plots, or new adventure hooks.
Difficulty and Pathfinder Adaptations
Additional info cards help adapt selected encounters from the four biome volumes for stronger groups. The book also contains game statistics and difficulty adjustments for use with Pathfinder.
Two bonus encounters round out the included material.
