Encounters at a Glance: Into the Wild - Box Set (Scratch & Fold)
Travel is part of almost every fantasy adventure, but at the gaming table it often gets far less attention than dungeons, battles, or great cities. The Encounters at a Glance Complete Box Set provides everything you need to make the journey to the next destination varied and engaging without requiring long preparation.
At the center are four encounter books for forest, mountains, swamp, and ocean. Together they contain 100 ready-to-play encounters, ranging from fights and dangerous situations to humorous and roleplay-heavy scenes. In addition, there is the extensive Explorer’s Journal, dynamic weather cards, two GM screens, and scratch-off progress posters.
The box is especially suitable for GMs who want to make travel feel more vivid but do not want to invest additional preparation time.
Four encounter books
Each book contains 25 encounters for a specific biome. The scenarios are structured so that you can use them directly during play.
And it is by no means always just about monsters and ambushes:
- In the forest, the group can expect runaway cats, cooking competitions, disputes, and unusual wizards, among other things.
- In the swamp, there are tea tastings, ghost hunts, chaotic petting zoos, and wheelbarrow races.
- In the mountains, there are drinking contests, rolling boulders, goblin dates, and somewhat questionable celebrations.
- On the ocean, the agenda includes wreck diving, navigation, eating contests, and protecting delicate reefs.
This creates a mix of combat, exploration, small stories, and encounters in which the characters sometimes have to solve very different kinds of problems.
The Explorer’s Journal
The included Explorer’s Journal expands the four encounter books with more than 500 travel events, campfire stories, special NPCs, and two additional encounters.
It also includes adjusted stats for more difficult battles as well as aids for use with Pathfinder. This makes it easier to adapt the material for more experienced groups or other game systems.
Two double-sided GM screens
The set includes two foldable GM screens, each with four panels and large-format landscape artwork:
- Forest and mountains
- Swamp and ocean
Each illustration shows a traveling party in the appropriate environment and can be set up to match the current section of the campaign.
Four progress posters
A scratch-off poster is included for each of the four biomes. After completed encounters, the corresponding fields can be scratched off, gradually revealing the full image.
The posters therefore serve both as an overview of the group’s progress and as a reminder of the journey experienced together.
Weather cards
The set includes a deck of 40 weather cards, allowing conditions to change at any time during a journey.
Every kind of weather brings its own advantages and challenges. Dense fog can make navigation difficult, intense heat can strain the entire group, and strong wind can delay progress. Other effects affect only individual characters and can, for example, lead to hypothermia or other personal problems.
In this way, the weather influences not only the atmosphere, but also the group's decisions.
